Hi, I am Friedrich

My passion lies in the interdisciplinary. I design games and interactive art, and conduct research in human-centered design. My artistic practice nurtures my research on the human factors of game interaction, while my research is equally fruitful for my human-centered design approach.

In my current PhD project, I focus on older players. I explore how immersive, enriching, and joyful forms of play can be enabled by reducing barriers to digital interaction. I firmly believe in the importance of constant exchange between the artistic and scientific disciplines to form a holistic design approach for one of the most fundamental cultural activities: play.

This includes opening both the design process and the resulting products to as many people as possible. I love spreading the word through teaching and outreach to convey a sense of responsibility to future design talents.
