︎History
My career as a lecturer for Game Design began in 2019, when I joined the ︎DE:HIVE of the University of Applied Science Berlin as an artistic associate, after graduating and working in Game Design before. Under the tutelage of Prof. Thomas Bremer,
I gathered my first teaching experience in the Game Design BA program, where I introduced the first and second-semester students to basic game design methods as part of the course “Grundlehre Spiel”.
︎Methods
The satisfaction of seeing students grow in their creative capabilities through my input sparked my passion for teaching, which I continued throughout my career, always incorporating my own professional growth into my lectures. As a proud member of the DE: HIVE team of professors and lecturers, I created and led different courses in one of Europe’s leading institutions for education in Game Design.
I was part of the student selection council of 2021/22 together with Prof. Susanne Banrdhorst and Prof. Thomas Bremer.
︎Course Design
My courses are designed to enable students to develop their own problem-solving strategies. Especially for younger semesters, my goal is to create a framework in which students can test their skills and actively learn.
This is an important foundation to build on with more specific courses for later semesters, such as Level Design or my ︎UX-Research Workshop, which teaches students methods and patterns they can explore and apply to their own creative work.
︎Philosophy
I encourage students to constantly reflect on these methods and technologies and their usefulness for their own creative vision. Acting not only as a lecturer but also as a team coach for specific student teams in the especially challenging years of 2020 and 2021, I am experienced in channeling students’ individual approaches, being in an ongoing process of learning myself.
Exploring a variety of topics in Game Design and -Research lets me bring my newly gathered experience into the exchange with my students, providing first-hand experience.
